SCMPD appoints 2 new crime prevention officers

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC)- Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police have two officers now in crime prevention roles.

West Chatham Precinct Officer Bryan Harrell and Islands Precinct Advanced Patrol Officer Christopher Kersey have been appointed to the new roles.

Each of SCMPD's precincts has a crime prevention officer to educate business owners and residents on how to prevent crime and attend precinct community meetings.

Residents react to drug bust in Pooler

POOLER, GA (WTOC) - Residents are still shaken up after police raided a house containing prescription pills, guns and alcohol at a residence on Salter Road in Pooler.

Martha Fowler, Donald Fowler and their son, Donald James, are facing drug charges and has since been released from jail.

POOLER, GA (WTOC) - The search of a home last week on Salter Road in Pooler resulted in the seizure of thousands of pills, moonshine and more than a $100,000 in cash.

Sen. Buddy Carter's column called The Spice Dilemma: 

In September a sheriff’s deputy in Statesboro responded to a call of a young man who had nearly beaten his girlfriend to death with a beer mug after both had ingested the drug spice.

While the girlfriend ended up in intensive care with a shattered cheek and eye socket, a plate in her jaw and a bruised brain, the boyfriend was charged with aggravated assault with the intent to murder, changing both of their lives forever.

Rincon police chief describes chase with suspects

Three men face charges in connection with a high-speed chase on Wednesday afternoon that involved police and deputies from several departments.

The chase ended at Augusta Avenue and Newell Street in west Savannah. The situation began in Rincon near a bank, where Rincon police noticed suspicious behavior in the parking lot. They approached the suspects who pointed guns at the officers.
