Check out this list of Veterans Day events going on around the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry. The list also includes offices that are closed in obervance of the federal holiday. 

NATIONWIDE

Many national and local restaurants are offering veterans and active duty military free meals on Nov. 11 and Nov. 12.

BRYAN COUNTY

Richmond Hill High School observance, 9:30 a.m. Nov. 9, with a 3rd Sustainment Brigade speaker.

Richmond Hill Ceremony, 11 a.m. Nov. 12, with speaker, color guard, firing party, and vehicles from the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team.

Veterans Day 5K Run/Walk for Peace - 3rd Annual Capt. Matthew Freeman 5K Run/Walk for Peace will take place on Monday, Nov. 12 at 8:30 a.m. J.F. Gregory Park in Richmond Hill. Race day registration begins on site at 7 a.m. No discounts for military or groups available on race day. CHATHAM COUNTY

Savannah Vietnam Veterans of America observance, 6 p.m. Nov. 9, with the 3rd ID band, a firing party, and chaplain.

JROTC drill competition in Savannah, 8 a.m. Nov. 10.

Savannah Veterans Day parade - Parade is Nov. 10. It starts at 10:15 a.m. at Abercorn and Gwinnett St. It will proceed north to Liberty St. East on Liberty to Montogomery St. north on Montgomery to Broughton and east on Broughton to East Broad where it ends. There are 101 total units of which 11 are bands. 

Chatham County Banquet in Thunderbolt at 7 p.m. Nov. 11, with a speaker from the 3rd CAB.

U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston will be speaking at this year's Veterans Day assembly at Blessed Sacrament School. The assembly will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 12 at the school gym. BSS parents are encouraged to attend and help salute family members who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.

WWII Veteran honored - American Legion Post 322 will be hosting a suprise celebration for WWII veteran Bud Porter on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum. The event is a celebration for Porter's service in WWII. Porter was a B-17 ball turret gunner during the war and currently serves as a volunteer at the museum. The museum is offering discounted admission for veterans and servicemembers on Sunday.

Logan’s Roadhouse will recognize those who have served or are serving by donating 25 percent of proceeds from Sunday, Nov. 11 sales to programs that support our service men and women.

EVANS COUNTY

Claxton High School observance, 9 a.m. Nov. 12, with a speaker from 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team.

TATTNALL COUNTY

Tattnall High School observance, 10 a.m. Nov. 12, with a 385th Military Police Battalion color guard.

Reidsville Middle School observance, 8:30 a.m. Nov. 12 in school gymnasium.

Glennville Middle School Veterans Day breakfast, 7:45 a.m. Nov. 12 (RSVP deadline has passed)

Veterans Day ceremony at Barnard Park - American Legion Post #95 and VFW Post #8379 invite the public Nov. 12 at 9 a.m. at Barnard Park in Glennville.

Tattnall County Veterans' Memorial Park dedication, 11 a.m. Nov. 10 on Tattnall Co. Courthouse square in Reidsville. Public is invited to attend.

LIBERTY COUNTY

Hinesville Veterans of Foreign Wars observance, 10:30 a.m. Nov. 12, with a speaker and color guard from the 1st ABCT and the 3rd ID band.

Liberty County parade, noon Nov. 12, with a color guard and Soldiers from the 1st ABCT.

SOUTH CAROLINA

BEAUFORT COUNTY

Beaufort National Cemetery Veterans Day Ceremony Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. at Beaufort National Cemetery. Keynote Speaker: Capt. Joan R. Queen, USN, Commanding Officer, Beaufort Naval Hospital. Public is welcome to attend.

Beaufort, S.C., parade, 9:30 a.m. Nov. 12, with a 3rd SB color guard.

JASPER COUNTY

Sun City Veterans Association observance, 2 p.m. Nov. 12, with support from the Fort Stewart Medical Activities Command.

City of Hardeeville & Jasper County Youth Commission is celebrate Veterans of Jasper County. Music performed by Ridgeland Hardeeville High School Marching Band and members of Jasper County Youth Commission. The event takes place at 11 a.m. Nov. 12 in front of Hardeeville City Hall. All are invited.

OFFICE CLOSURES ON VETERANS DAY 

BEAUFORT COUNTY

All Beaufort County Government Buildings will be closed on Nov. 12 only. These closings also include County Public Library Branches and County Convenience Centers.
