New businesses opening in Pooler | News
POOLER, GA (WTOC)- The city of Pooler is growing as new businesses are opening.
So far this year, 25 to 30 new businesses have opened, including an IMAX theatre, a Dairy Queen and a Mellow Mushroom restaurant.
Construction is underway on a Jersey Mike's Sub Shop and Mattress Firm on Pooler Parkway. A McDonald's and Logan Steakhouse are also set to go up at Pooler Pkwy and Benton Blvd.
There are also plans to build a 500-room hotel. Finishing touches are being done on a new skating rink set to open this fall, and a waterpark.
"We hear all the time we need a new clothing store, we need a new shoe store. The Chamber sends out packages to businesses letting them know what Pooler has to offer, and try to entice new business to come here," said Kim Griffin, Pooler Chamber of Commerce.
Griffin says land is being cleared and sold so new businesses can move in.
Residents say they are excited to see Pooler growing.
"I think it's good. It's nice compared to when I first moved here because there wasn't much here," said Kodi Skillings, resident.
Griffin says land has also been purchased for retail space. She expects Pooler to keep growing over the next few years.
