Today is Valentine's Day but it is also a very special day at WTOC.

On this date, the 14th of February 1954, Savannah's first television station WTOC went on the air. The man who threw the switch to get it all started was William T. Knight, Jr. Many remember it being the middle of the afternoon as Dave Randell, Dwight Bruce, Jess Mooney, and of course a camera-man turned TV legend, Doug Weathers, brought us our first television broadcast. The Big Red 11 took hold of Savannah's heart that day and hasn't let go, and what a wonderful relationship it has been.
